"Dinner Time" Watercolour and alcohol Ink on acid free paper
Where I live by the River Stour we often see the Kingfisher being photographed. They remind me of a celebrity of the river, with all their finery on display.
When they are in flight they are quite hard to spot, due to the speed they travel. I don't know if it's my age but I can see them more clearly on a dull day.
When you do spot them it's like a firework show in the daytime.
A Few Facts
Kingfishers birds are small and unmistakable bright blue and orange and live by slow moving or still water. They fly fast and low over water, and hunt fish from riverside perches, occasionally hovering above the water's surface. Kingfishers are amber listed because of their unfavourable conservation status in Europe. They are also listed as a Schedule 1 species under the Wildlife and Countryside Act offering them additional protection.
They eat fish and aquatic insects.
